Green Algae Found to Prey on Bacteria

According to recent article written by Jennifer Frazer in Scientific America blog, the mixotrophic green algae (Cymbomonas) are able to swallow and digest bacteria when deprived of light. This strengthen the endosymbiotic theory which postulates that the mitochondria, plastids, and other organelles from free-living bacteria were taken inside another cell.
